Digg fires Google
DIGG HAS dumped Google as its online advertising partner saying it wants an outfit which was young and willing to take risks.
Apparently Jay Adelson, the company's chief executive officer was actually talking about Microsoft when he used the "young and willing to take risks" comment.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Adelson said that Microsoft had a young ad service which was innovative and willing to work with Digg on "the cutting edge" which sounds jolly painful.
For the next three years Vole will have to find small adverts to appear on contextually relevant text links on Digg.com.
The outfit is Vole's first high-profile customer for its adCenter platform since the company signed up Facebook.
Of course it all might backfire. Digg is the domain of those who do not exactly like Microsoft. Linux and Apple are the most talked about subjects on the site and Vole, next to the RIAA, is the most hated thing in its "black and white" universe.
